Immerse yourself in the world of Natakorn Ulit (Tum Ulit), an artist whose poignant illustrations have touched hearts across the globe. His first solo exhibition, "Who's Cutting Onions?" is set to debut at RCB Galleria 1, second floor at River City Bangkok from 13 July to 25 August 2024.
Tum Ulit is an artist, cartoonist and storyteller who fell in love with the world of cartoons as a young child. Upon the completion of his undergraduate studies in Animation Production at Mahidol University International College (MUIC), Tum became well known for his webcomic series featured on his online page “Tum Ulit” with currently a global following of over 1.7 million.
His work is notable in reaching deep into the emotions and touching readers worldwide through his storytelling ability. Tum hopes his solo exhibition will resonate deeply with audiences, sparking profound reflections and lingering feelings in their hearts.
"Who's Cutting Onions?" takes inspiration from the idiom often used to mask our true feelings during delicate moments. Tum masterfully captures the essence of these fragile emotions through raw and tumultuous depiction of loneliness, sorrow and longing, creating a realm where vulnerability is embraced through whimsical illustrations. Each piece invites viewers to delve deeper into the layers of emotion, much like peeling back the petals of an onion.
The exhibition is not just a visual experience but also an emotional journey, inviting visitors to embrace their tears, for behind every drop lies a story of reminiscence, loss, growth, love, hope and dreams. With over 30 original artworks, Tum’s solo exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the artist’s creative process and the emotional landscapes that inspire his work.
His previous group exhibitions, "Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer’s Day?" (2022) and "To the Moon and (Never) Back" (2023), have already marked him as a notable figure in the art scene, and this solo exhibition is eagerly anticipated by his followers and collectors.
